Dripping Springs sits within Hays County which also includes the cities of Wimberley, San Marcos, Woodcreek, Buda, Kyle, and Neiderwald.

Dripping Springs, Texas was founded in 1854 by three families who trekked from Mississippi to their choice of real estate, past Austin, about 30 miles further into the western frontier. They settled on what they named Wallace Mountain. Three years later, a post office was established when the founders officially named their stagecoach stop for the “dripping springs” found along the Edwards Aquifer.

Dripping Springs is known as the "Gateway to the Texas Hill County" because of its rolling hills, beautiful rock bottom creeks, abundant wildlife and majestic views.

With a population of only about 1,700 Dripping Springs offers an authentic small town experience, with prized real estate.

Dripping Area Attractions

Hamilton Pool - Located just 10 miles from Dripping Springs, this natural deep water pool is part of the Texas Park Service. The preserve's pool and grotto were formed when the dome of an underground river collapsed due to massive erosion.

Westcave Preserve - Large Cypress trees, a 40 foot waterfall and a limestone-walled canyon with many rare and endangered plants can be found on these 30-acres of pristine preserve real estate.

Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park - Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park, in nearby Johnson City, tells the story of our 36th President beginning with his ancestors until his final resting place on his beloved LBJ Ranch. This entire "circle of life" gives the visitor a unique perspective into one of America's most noteworthy citizens by providing the most complete picture of an American president.

Pedernales Falls State Park - Well-marked trails pass through hills dotted with oak and juniper woodlands and provide access to more-heavily-wooded areas of pecan, elm, sycamore, walnut, and hackberry in the major drainages. Wildlife in the park is typical of the Texas Hill Country.

Hill Country Lifestyle

In addition to all the above attractions, Dripping Springs residents frequent Founders Park to use the community swimming pool and the outstanding sports complex with baseball, softball, and soccer fields, as well as additional facilities for families, including a playscape for young children.

Local real estate owners also enjoy a visit to the original Dripping Springs, located near the west end of Mercer Street, at the granite marker donated by Lions club. The springs were a gathering place for Native Americans, as well as the source of water for the original settlers in the area.

Some annual TO DO’s are the Founders' Day celebration each spring, the Cajun Shrimp Boil and Pound House Fall Festival in September, chili cook-off and Gathering Festival of Fine Arts in October, and the "Christmas in the Hills" Tour of Homes.

Dripping Springs, TX is in the heart of the beautiful rural Texas Hill Country and convenient to both Austin and San Antonio.
