Austin Texas Location GalleryThe last time it "really" snowed on Austin (January 1985) Lake Austin near 360 Bridge (Pennybacker Bridge)Austin's Pennybacker Bridge is commonly referred to as the "360 Bridge. It was opened on December 3rd, 1982 and it was the last link to completing Austin's first highway loop circling the city, which utilizes US 183, Hwy 71, Capital of Texas Highway, and Loop 360. The bridge was made from Korean steel which was designed to rust as seen in the pictures below. Beneath the bridge is a 3 lane boat ramp to drop your boat or other recreational vehicle into Lake Austin. During the week, it's nearly empty, but on the weekends, you can expect a short wait. Usually no longer than 10 to 15 minutes. Check out the beautiful scenary of the tree covered limestone cliffs on either side of the lake. Homes on Lake Austin start around $1,00,000 and go up from there. There is no such thing as "overbuilding" on Lake Austin. With the natural beauty and convenience to Austin, Lake Austin is the most sought after lake to live on in Austin. Home / Austin Home Search / Selling Your House / Austin, TX Neighborhoods
