With so many people who commit their lives to a daily commute burdened by the congestion of the city, it's no wonder these same individuals seek the rest and relaxation available in Winter Park, Colorado. From its glorious mountain views to its numerous year-round activities, this cozy village provides for an ideal backdrop to anyone's dream getaway. It's really no surprise that many of the mountain villages patrons are looking to make the town a more permanent destination in the form of Winter Park Hotels and vacation homes.

First settled in the 1920's by various settlers and construction workers helping build the Moffat Tunnel, Winter Park has always been recognized for its scenic beauty. In 1922, a local valley merchant, Doc ”Graves set his eyes on the location and made an effort towards its formidable development. Initially going by the name Hideaway Park, Graves started his village with 26 tourist cabins, a café and lone service station – all powered by a water wheel he installed at nearby Vasquez Creek. By 1939 buzz about the mountain town had circulated and the Winter Park Ski Resort first opened its doors to the public. Composed of three interconnected peaks: Winter Park, Mary Jane and Vasquez Ridge, the winter lodge offered winter sport vacationers world class ski slopes, fine dining and favorable accommodations. The ski resort enjoyed years of seasonal visitation, but it wasn't until August 1, 1978 that Winter Park was officially founded.

Today Winter Park flourishes as one of the nation's premiere vacation destinations. Renowned for its skiing and winter sports, the town has grown into a getaway destination during any month of the calendar. In summer months, many find their way to Winter Park to enjoy the miles of hiking trails or to twist through rocky cliffs and tall trees on meandering mountain bike paths. Some capture more intimate glimpses on guided horseback rides or even from the tall scope of a hot air balloon. Other simply find a secluded hideaway, enjoy the brisk mountain air and take in the awe-inspiring peaks of the Rocky Mountains.

Just a quick 90-minute drive west of Denvers city limits, Winter Park offers scenic getaway opportunities for anyone looking to escape the congestion and pace of city life. More and more each day, people are finding their way to the mountain town, searching for more permanent boarding, often in the form of Winter Park Hotels. No matter what the reason may be, the Winter Park, Colorado experience is one that can truly be appreciated by all.
